Dear business partners, colleagues, and friends,
I am back to online school with The Economist Executive Education for „Critical Thinking: Problem-Solving and Decision-Making in a Complex World“.
Critical thinking is essential to financial leadership or steering a business: If the little boy in The Emperor's New Clothes had been merely determined, he might have grown old searching for the emperor’s outfit; had he been merely clever, he might have bankrolled a search strategy consultant; merely rich, he would have burned his mother’s fortune trying to buy it. It was critical thinking - challenging the assumption that, of course, the emperor would be dressed - which enabled him to take off the blinkers and face reality.
We are, today, in a much tougher place than the boy: some of our blinkers are marvels of technology - algorithm-made for ultimate comfort and so convincing that when you scan LinkedIn you might even believe that New Work really exists.
Just joking.
Or not?
Either way, looking forward to gaining some fresh perspective.
Best regards,
Dietmar
